MOTIVATIONS
FOR THE AWARDING OF THE PRIZE
The commission
encharged with the awarding of the ISME-Gibson
Award 2008 announces that the prize-winners were
selected for the following motives:
Prof. Carlo Delfrati,
because he has dedicated more than 40 years to the
training of teachers and other operators in the field
of music education; he founded the SIEM – the
Italian Society for Music Education – in 1969,
and in doing so renewed the concept and practice
of Italian music teaching; he has published key contributions
in the sector of music didactics; he has initiated,
also recently, wide-ranging projects in the field
of music education and has been involved in the establishment
of numerous public and private institutions with
the aim of renewing and promoting musical culture
and practice at various levels.
The “Note di pace” project,
set up by the Scuola Popolare di Musica ‘Donna
Olimpia’ in Rome, because it has allowed
public and private institutions to integrate at national
and international levels with the common aim of promoting
and activating programmes of music education and
training at various age ranges, also representing
a tool for collaboration, intercultural exchange
and dialogue between peoples in conflict.
